Robert Le Crom named to BC Hall of Fame

VANCOUVER—Robert Le Crom of Fairmont Hotel Vancouver will receive an Industry Award, and join the British Columbia Restaurant Hall of Fame.  A chef at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver since 1989, Le Crom has overseen eateries including the Roof Restaurant, Lounge, 900 West and Griffins.

A gala to honour Le Crom and other inductees takes place October 17 at the Italian Cultural Centre in Vancouver.

Also joining the hall this year are:

Active restaurateur—Antonio and Patrick Corsi, Quattro Restaurants; Emad Yacoub, Glowbal Restaurant Group.

Pioneer—John Dys, De Dutch Restaurants; John and Ron Teti, Puccini’s.

Friend of the Industry—Richard Carras, Authentic Wine and Spirits Merchants; Kasey Wilson, a wine commentator for Wine Access, AM 650’s Best of Food and Wine, and the Globe and Mail.

Industry award—James Walt, Araxi Restaurant + Bar; Megan Buckley, Hy’s of Canada.

Nov. 28 deadline for HAC Hall of Fame

OTTAWA—The Hotel Association of Canada (HAC) is now accepting entries for the 2011 Hall of Fame Awards of Excellence by Nov. 28.
Nominations are sought for the following awards.

o    The Humanitarian Award: Individuals/programs that demonstrate to residents that the individual property is responsive to the local community.

o    The Human Resources Award: Programs/individuals that develop a climate conducive to new and/or repeat business, create goodwill among guests, provide special services, reverse negative public relations situations or effectively solve guest complaints.

o    The Energy & Environment Award: Recognizes lodging properties that have developed a culture towards integrating environmental management practices that improve everyday operations and the bottom line.

o    Outstanding Supplier Award.

o    Stephen Phillips Passion For Hospitality Bursary.

Winners will be honoured at an Awards Luncheon on March 6, 2012 in conjunction with HAC’s Annual Conference at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel, Toronto, ON.
