Body language training and personalized service
NEW YORK—Affinia, a five-hotel boutique chain with properties in New York, Chicago and Washington, is among the hotel companies investing in body language training for staff ranging from housekeepers to management. John Moser, chief brand and marketing officer at Affinia says the training helps staffers identify the right way to address guests at a particular moment. For example, a guest who makes eye contact could be open to conversation, but one who grabs their chin or tugs on an ear may be stressed. “Those are cues I should be doing something to get them to their room quick or make them feel comfortable,” Moser told USA Today.
Motel 6 and Studio 6 go chain-wide with Green Key program
DALLAS, Texas—Motel 6 and Studio 6 have completed Green Key certification of the network’s 1,100 locations. After committing in January 2011 to rank and certify all properties within the network, the company achieved this goal in less than six months and continues the brands’ long-standing commitment to the environment and sustainability.

Garson bows out of HR Forum
