SASKATOON, SK—Employees at Saskatoon-based Airline Hotels and Resorts Ltd. are definitely proud that their president, Betty-Anne Latrace-Henderson, has been named by Profit Magazine as Canada’s top woman entrepreneur. Latrace-Henderson was honoured for her role in growing the company, which owns and operates hotels from Edmonton to Thunder Bay.
“It’s a shock and an honour,” she told the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix. “It’s the one time I’m tongue-tied.”
Latrace-Henderson’s father, Harold Latrace started the company, and she took over the reins following her father’s death nine years ago.
“Certainly we would not be what we are without the visionary leadership of the Latrace family,” says the company’s website.
“We exist thanks to our founder but we have blossomed to become what we are thanks to Betty-Anne. Rarely can any organization brag of the unfailing commitment of its president to the wellbeing of the company associate at large, but somehow, Betty-Anne still brings the powerful caring, personal touch to the company of nearly 1,000 associates that was present in its inaugural stage.”
Women named to the magazine’s annual W100 list are chosen and ranked by a combination of their companies’ revenue, growth rate and profitability, factors that allow smaller businesses to be part of the list as well.
