SAXibition 2010 moves back to Toronto area

PETERBOROUGH, ON—For the first time in eight years, the annual SAXibition show will be held in the Toronto area rather than Muskoka. And the Ontario Accommodation Association is going it alone, without the support of Resorts of Ontario.

“The reason for our split was that Resorts insisted on keeping the 2010 show in Muskoka, and at one of their member resorts to boot, to show support for their 100 resort members,” said OAA president Bruce Gravel.

“OAA strongly felt it was high time SAXibition returned to the GTA in 2010, for the first time in eight years, something which our 800 innkeeper members had been asking for.
“SAXibition was never conceived of as a Muskoka-only show, and our joint partnership was supposed to be a 50/50 collaboration.”

SAXibition, which stands for Super Accommodation eXhibition, will take place March 16, 2010, at the Hilton Suites Toronto/Markham Conference Centre, in Markham. The annual general meeting of the Ontario Accommodation Association will be held there as well on March 15.

This year’s booths are larger, carpeted 10 foot by 10 foot spaces, and booth fees have been substantially-reduced over the 2009 SAXibition show to help suppliers cope with this recession.

SAXibition 2010 will again feature the SAXibition Marketplace, a “virtual reality” online show which debuted in 2008, allowing visitors to preplan their SAXibition visit at www.saxibition.ca.

Also returning for the 2010 show will be the Expert Advice Booths on industry hot topics, provided on a complimentary basis by SAXibition management.

All innkeepers are welcome to attend and admission is free.
