Vrancor adding three new properties
BURLINGTON, ON—Darko Vranich and his Burlington based company Vrancor Hospitality Corporation will soon have 10 hotels in their multi-brand management portfolio, with the addition of two new hotels in Sudbury, and the recent purchase of the Sheraton Hamilton Hotel.
The Sudbury Hampton Inn by Hilton opened in October, and the Sudbury Homewood Suites is scheduled to open this month.
25th Canadian Hampton Inn
The 121-room Hampton Inn is the 25th Hampton in Canada. The five-story hotel, located at 2280 Regent Street, is close to a selection of restaurants, shopping, golf and popular local attractions such as the Science North and Dynamic Earth, two of Canada’s largest and most innovative science centres.
“Canada remains a huge market for us as we continue to grow the Hampton by Hilton brand internationally,” said Phil Cordell, senior vice president, Hampton brand management & global head—focused service brands.
“This [hotel] marks our twelfth property in Ontario, and our first in the Sudbury marketplace.
“We believe tremendous growth opportunities remain in Canada and hope to build on our portfolio within the next few years. We see additional opportunities here in Ontario, as well as in Alberta and Nova Scotia.”
“Hampton by Hilton Hotels combine quality, service, comfort and plenty of value-added extras, making us the brand of choice in the marketplace today,” said Peter Nykilchuk, hotel general manager.
The Homewood Suites by Hilton in Sudbury is an 85-suite hotel. Homewood Suites is an international brand of all-suite, residential-style properties.
All-suites are in demand
“We continue to see strong demand in the extended stay hotel segment and feel this property helps to fill a need in Sudbury,” said regional operations manager, Peter Tosh.
“Whether travelling alone for business or with the entire family, guests can indulge in the comforts of home at Homewood Suites. In times where both business and leisure travelers are pinching pennies, we offer a great value with standard amenities such as fully equipped kitchens, complimentary high-speed Internet access, and separate living and sleeping areas.”
Homewood Suites by Hilton Sudbury offers studio, one-, and two-bedroom suites. Additional guest amenities include a daily complimentary Suite Start hot breakfast in the hotel’s hospitality center—the “Lodge”—a Welcome Home reception featuring a complimentary light meal and beverages Monday-Thursday evenings, an executive business center, and a 24-hour on-site pantry.
The Homewood Suites by Hilton Sudbury also has an indoor swimming pool, a fitness room, outdoor basketball court, and 630 square feet of meeting space.
Located at 2270 Regent Street, the hotel is situated at the gateway to the city.
Sudbury is host to numerous special annual events including the Blueberry Festival and Northern Lights Festival in July, and the Cinefest Film Festival in September, which hosts over 25,000 people each year.
Launched in 1989, the Homewood Suites by Hilton brand today has more than 250 hotels open with approximately 140 in the development pipeline.
The 23-year-old Sheraton Hamilton Hotel is set to undergo some renovations now that Vrancor Group has purchased it.
“It’s a great asset in downtown Hamilton ... and I’m excited about it,” Vranich told the Hamilton Spectator in August.
Vranich, president and CEO of Vrancor Group also owns Vrancor Development Corporation and was recognized as Developer of the Year 2005 by Hilton Hotels.
