Newly-minted B&B donates weekends to charity
ANCASTER, ON—Serenity Ranch, the Hamilton area’s newest B&B, celebrated their opening by donating two weekends at the ranch to charity, one to the Juravinski Cancer Clinic and one to the Hamilton AIDS Network.
“We’ll let them decide who is best suited among their clients,” said Shane Burry, who owns the ranch along with business partner Dr. Alan Campbell Moscrop. The ranch is gay owned and operated.
The ranch opening in mid-September attracted 300 people, and included a performance by the band V-Girls, a bagpiper and priest, who dedicated the ranch to Susanne MacIvor, a friend of the owners who recently died of cancer.
“Serenity Ranch is my doing,” says Shane. “Alan does surgery, comes home and says, ‘Omigod.’ It’s his retirement place, and my job is to get it up and running and viable.”
Features of the ranch include a wraparound veranda with big wicker chairs that seat 12, and a full gym in the basement. The ranch is surrounded by a 68 acre horse farm known as Day Break Equine Services, which offers horseback riding. Other features include a hot tub, a covered dining area, a gas firepit and a koi pond.
