HENDERSONVILLE, Tennessee—The U.S. hotel industry reported mixed results in the three key performance metrics for first-quarter 2010 in year-over-year measurements, according to data from STR released April 22.


STR: Canadian hotel pipeline March/10

HENDERSONVILLE, Tennessee—The Canadian hotel development pipeline comprises 202 projects totaling 21,538 rooms, according to the March 2010 STR/TWR/Dodge Construction Pipeline Report released in early April. This represents a 2.5-per cent decrease in the number of rooms in the pipeline compared to February 2010 and a 16.5-per cent decrease in the number of rooms in the pipeline compared to March 2009.


Lessons from Chateau World’s demise

BANFF, CANMORE, AB—Chateau World, an Alberta-based travel club, folded earlier this spring leaving over 7,000 members in the lurch. The company is in the process of being foreclosed upon by secured creditors, according to a news release from CHEATauWorld, a recently-formed core group of unhappy club members.
