Delta moves offices and leaves Avendra as part of transition

TORONTO—Delta Hotels & Resorts is moving its offices, and completing the transition away from Fairmont Hotels & Resorts which began when it was purchased by British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (bcIMC) in October, 2007.

The company won’t be moving far.  On May 1, it relocated from 100 Wellington Street in downtown Toronto to 70 University Ave.

“The new place is located at Wellington and University, so we’re actually moving one block away,” said Hank Stackhouse, president and CEO of Delta.

As part of the transition, Delta is also bringing its accounting, technology and purchasing in-house.

“We’re moving to a bigger space, and we’re actually hiring some people,” he added.
Bringing purchasing in house means ending a long-standing relationship with Avendra—Comprehensive Procurement Solutions, now a huge company that works with more than 4,500 customers and 900 suppliers doing almost $3 billion in business annually. As part of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Delta was a founding member of Avendra in 2001.

Stackhouse says that bringing procurement in-house is a strategic move that will provide tighter control of purchasing.

“Our contract with Avendra is up at the end of September,” he said.  “And we’ll have a great relationship with them to the last day.”
