SIAL Canada will come to Toronto in 2011

MONTREAL—SIAL Canada will alternate between Toronto and Montréal, beginning in 2011. The professional food tradeshow has been held Montréal since 2001.

According to Xavier Poncin, Director of SIAL Canada, this is an exciting evolution for the highly praised food show.

“Our objectives are ambitious. We want to make SIAL a memorable experience in the North American food industry and increase our presence in Canada,” explained Poncin. “We hope to make SIAL a new reference point for the hospitality industry. Moving the show into the Toronto market will really give us an ideal opportunity to be seen and heard as an international venue for the development of new food products, similar to what Montréal has achieved during the previous seven editions of SIAL.”

Held from May 11 to 13, 2011 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, the show will alternate between cities going forward, returning to Montréal in 2012. The Toronto edition will feature both Canadian and international offerings plus the introduction of exciting new products from new countries, along with new food products and equipment.

Since its inception nine years ago, SIAL Canada’s goal was to create a SIAL that was specific to the North American marketplace. The show was held every two years until 2007, when it became an annual event. Formerly known as SIAL Montréal, the show recently changed its name to SIAL Canada, a sign of its intent to make the show more national in scope.
