Marriott’s Beckley and Sutton Place’s Vesely win OHI awards
TORONTO—The Ontario Hostelry Institute has announced its crop of winners for the 2009 OHI Gold Awards. Taking home the hardware for the Chairman’s Gold Award are Donna Dooher, co-owner and executive chef at Mildred’s Temple Kitchen, Toronto, and Michael Beckley, senior vice-president, development for Marriott Hotels of Canada.

New managers for BC Hospitality Expo
VANCOUVER—It’s a blast from the past for George Acs and Heather Angeard. Less than a decade ago, they were the moving force behind the BC Restaurant and Foodservices Association’s annual trade show, and the popular FAB (Food and Beverage) Conference. They left the BCRFA to start their own company, Executive Event Production Inc., launching the EAT! Vancouver festival seven years ago. Now the team is once again working on a major hospitality industry trade show, this time with an alliance of three industry associations.
