Marriott’s Beckley and Sutton Place’s Vesely win OHI awards

TORONTO—The Ontario Hostelry Institute has announced its crop of winners for the 2009 OHI Gold Awards.
Taking home the hardware are:
o Chairman’s Gold Award—Donna Dooher, co-owner and executive chef at Mildred’s Temple Kitchen, Toronto, and Michael Beckley, senior vice-president, development for Marriott Hotels of Canada;
o Foodservice Chain Operator—Denise Meehan, president, Licks Homeburgers and Ice Cream;
o Independent Restaurateur—Peter Geary and Martin Kouprie, co-owners of Pangaea in Toronto;
o Hotelier—Nick Vesely, general manager, Sutton Place Hotel, Toronto;
o Educator—Anita Stewart, culinary activist and author;
o Media Publishing—Rose Murray, writer and author;
o Chef—Anne Yarymowich, executive chef, Art Gallery of Ontario;
o Supplier—Paul, Matthew and Daniel Speck, Henry of Pelham Family Estate Winery.
The awards are being presented April 16 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto as part of OHI’s Gala Gold Awards Dinner and Auction.
