Bringing fresh produce closer to YEW
Chef Ned Bell with the Urban Cultivator
|
Chef Ned Bell’s 100-mile diet is more like the 100-metre diet. The executive chef at YEW in the Four Seasons Vancouver is using an Urban Cultivator in plain view of restaurant customers to grow herbs and vegetables, which the upscale eatery chefs use in their cooking.
The cultivator, which is marketed by Tarren Wolfe of Surrey, BC, recently scored a win with Arlene Dickinson of The Dragon’s Den TV show. The president of Venture Communications, Dickinson now has a 20 per cent equity stake in the Urban Cultivator in exchange for $400,000 of her marketing services.
