Bellstar Hotels & Resorts and Olympus Resorts have contracted wine personality David Scholefield to consult on the development of The Reserve Collection, an exclusive collection of private residence clubs in handpicked vineyard locations around the world. Scholefield will lend his professional identity as a foremost wine expert in the Canadian wine industry to create the multi-faceted ultra-luxury residences. Canada’s first release of the vineyard-based Private Residence Club is slated for the Okanagan Valley in a soon to be disclosed location. 

Penticton, BC hotelier Beth Campbell has recently been appointed to Best Western International’s board of directors as the secretary/treasurer. Campbell, a 30-year veteran of the tourism industry, began her three-year term on the Best Western board in November 2008. For the past 30 years, Campbell has owned and operated the Best Western Inn at Penticton, a three-diamond resort-style property. She is also vice president of the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association.

Onity has announced the appointment of Bradley Bolton to the position of global IT director. Based at Onity’s world headquarters in Duluth, GA, Bradley will be responsible for driving IT solutions and practices throughout Onity’s worldwide operations. This will include assessing the IT needs of the business and implementing strategies and programs that support the organization; managing application development, implementation, and support; supervising computer and communication equipment maintenance and support; and directing system networking. Onity, a leading provider of electronic locking solutions, is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp.

Caber Distributors Inc., exclusive Canadian distributor of all Protect-A-Bed products, has announced two corporate appointments.

Johan Bosman, currently Caber’s hospitality channel manager, has been promoted to hospitality channel director. With over 15 years experience in the hospitality industry, Bosman successfully introduced ALLER-ZIP from Protect-A-Bed to hotels across the country.

Minki Basu has joined Caber as hospitality channel sales manager. Her experience in the hospitality industry includes sales and marketing for such Toronto-based hotels as Ramada Plaza, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn where she established many new programs and achieved exceptional results.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. has appointed Clayton C. Daley, Jr. to the company’s board of directors. Daley is currently vice chair and chief financial officer for Procter & Gamble. Daley has spent his entire professional career with Procter & Gamble, joining the company in 1974, and has held a number of key accounting and finance positions. He was appointed to his current position as CFO, Procter & Gamble in 1998 and was elected vice chair in 2007.

Daniel Ilias will be the first general manager of the 200-room Delta Burnaby Hotel and Conference Centre, soon to open in Burnaby, BC. A consummate professional, Ilias is currently supervising pre-opening hotel construction, and will oversee the hotel’s day-to-day operations when Delta Burnaby opens its doors in early 2009. Ilias has 22 years of extensive experience that is truly diverse in scope. He has previously held positions with Pacrim Hospitality, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, Celebrity Cruises and The Breakers Palm Beach in Florida.

Jana Yackel will also join Delta Burnaby, as director of sales and marketing. With 15 years of industry experience, Yackel has held positions at the Pacific Palisades Hotel, Listel Vancouver Hotel and Westin Bayshore Hotel. Most recently, she was the director of sales and marketing at the Hilton Vancouver Airport Hotel.

Patrick Sinclair, a seasoned culinary professional, returns to Delta as executive chef and food and beverage manager for Delta Burnaby. Patrick brings an impressive culinary background to Delta Burnaby, with 18 years of experience. He apprenticed at Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort and Spa and went on to hone his talents at Delta hotels in Calgary, Vancouver and Victoria, as well as Fairmont properties in Vancouver. Most recently, he served as executive sous chef at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport.

go2 has announced the appointment of Joyce Lam to the position of communications and marketing specialist. Lam has worked with non-profit organizations in the arts and agriculture industries, taking on responsibilities in areas such as member communications, web development, public education and event management. She is a graduate of SFU Business majoring in marketing with a minor in communication. Lam recently completed an associate certificate in event marketing at BCIT.
